Certifications & Standards
Certifications and standards help you as a parent make safe choices for your child.
At Sebra, we place great emphasis on using certified materials when designing new products. This makes it easier for you as a parent to make safe choices when purchasing furniture, bedding, textiles or toys for your child.
What do certifications mean for my child and me?
Although you might expect otherwise, there is no general legal requirement for all products to be completely free from potentially harmful chemicals, for example.
Legislation sets limits for certain substances but does not cover everything.
Certifications go one step further, ensuring that products meet high environmental standards. This gives you peace of mind about the products your child is surrounded by. At the same time, you are supporting production that takes into account factors such as biodiversity, resources and the people throughout the value chain.

What does it mean if my product is certified?
When a product is certified, it means that an independent third party has assessed and verified that it meets a set of specific requirements.
These requirements may relate to the origin of the materials, whether the product may contain harmful substances, and the processes involved in production, such as water and energy consumption, wastewater management and working conditions for employees.

OCS
The Organic Content Standard (OCS) verifies the percentage of organically grown content and tracks it from source to final product.
Products certified to the Organic Content Standard (OCS) contain organically grown content that has been independently verified at each stage of the supply chain, from source to final product.
Sebra are OCS certified, Control Union 1014229.
Only the products which carry the OCS label and claim are certified.

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
GOTS is an international certification for organic textiles. It requires fibres to be made from at least 70% organic materials.
When you choose GOTS-certified products, you get:
- A guarantee that the fibres in the product are organically grown.
- Greater peace of mind knowing that the production processes behind the product meet social and working condition standards.
- Documented traceability and control throughout the entire value chain.
Sebra offers GOTS-certified products, which are clearly labelled.

FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council)
FSC® is a certification scheme for responsible forest management and provides assurance that wood and other forest-based products come from well-managed forests and other responsible sources.
When you buy FSC®-certified products, you help support good social conditions and biodiversity in forests around the world.
Sebra is FSC® certified, and we are working to ensure that more and more of our products can become FSC® certified.
Sebra licence number: FSC® C160110.

EU Ecolabel
The EU Ecolabel is the EU’s official environmental label and is awarded to products that meet specific environmental requirements.
When you buy a Sebra product with the EU Ecolabel, you can be confident that:
- The product’s entire life cycle has been assessed – from raw materials and manufacturing to use and disposal.
- Materials and processes meet strict requirements that help reduce the environmental impact.
- The product has been tested to ensure high quality and durability for everyday use.
- Limits have been set for harmful substances, giving you peace of mind when using the product close to your child.
