How can I tell the difference between the Kili bed and the Sebra Bed?
There are several differences you can notice:
- The Kili bed has a transparent plexiglass panel in front of the slats on the headboard and footboards.
- The Kili bed has a straight edge under the slats on the end panels, whereas the Sebra Bed features a sloping downward edge to prevent the child from using the edge to climb out.
- The Kili bed’s base cannot be adjusted in height, unlike the base of the Sebra Bed.
The Sebra Bed
How do I assemble my Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr.?
We recommend that two people assemble the bed together. Before starting, decide which stage the bed should be set up in, for example, where the base plate is raised for a newborn.
Follow the assembly instructions included in the packaging, or let yourself be guided by our video assembly guide.
Which mattress should I choose for the Sebra Bed?
At Sebra, you can choose between several types of mattresses for your Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr.
- Sebra X Träumeland Madras, Signature.
- Classic II
- Harmony

Specific to the Sebra Harmony mattress:
- Made from the Pantera® foam mould, particularly known for its breathability and comfort.
- 7-year labour warranty.
- Ultra-elastic, maintaining its shape for many years.
- Effectively releases heat and moisture that naturally accumulate when a child sleeps, keeping the mattress fresh.
- The top of the mattress core is cut into squares, distributing weight and providing excellent support for the child.
Specific to the Sebra Classic II mattress:
- Made from firm and breathable cold foam that is characterized by high durability.
- Long lifespan.
- Features a wave-cut underside that ensures ventilation.
How long can my child sleep in the Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr.?
The iconic Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr., grows and evolves with your child and, as a general rule, can be used from 0 to around 6 years of age. However, it is very individual when you feel your child has outgrown the bed. The bed measures 115.25 cm long and can be extended to 157.75 cm (external dimensions).
How do I best care for my Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr.?
The Sebra Bed is made of wood, a solid and natural living material. Due to the continuous changes in wood, its structure and colour may evolve.
Sunlight affects wood, and even the most colourful products can fade. Therefore, protect your Sebra Bed from direct sunlight.
Wood, known for its adaptability to its surroundings, should not be placed in a room where humidity fluctuates. It's also essential to protect it from strong heat sources like radiators, fireplaces, etc., as these can affect or even dry out the wood. Extreme temperature changes or high humidity can damage the bed and should be avoided.
How much weight can the Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr., support?
When the base is in the highest position (designed for newborns), the Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr., is designed to hold a maximum of 15 kg. Once the base is lowered, it is designed to support up to 80 kg.
The bed weighs 34 kg including packaging. The packaging measures 96 x 80 x 40 cm.
When should the base of the Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr., be adjusted from raised to lowered?
It's of utmost importance to lower the base of your Sebra Bed as soon as your child starts moving around. From that point on, the base should always remain in the lowest position, ensuring your child's safety.
When the bases are in the upper position, the height of the base is 52 cm above the floor. When the bases are in the lower position, the height of the base is 28 cm above the floor. The mattress height is approximately 8 cm and should be added to both measurements.
Important! The support bars that the base rests on when raised (part I) must be removed before using the base in its lowest position. Refer to the video assembly guide for further instructions.
When should I remove the side rails from my Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr.?
The side rails should be removed shortly before your child can independently climb out of bed. Look for signs such as your child standing up in the bed and trying to get their legs over the edge or wanting to climb over the sides.
Many parents try to keep the rails on longer because removing them means less control. However, the side rails must be removed for safety reasons before your child can climb out of the bed independently.
Instructions on removing the side rails are in the video assembly guide.
How do I extend the Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr., from baby to junior length?
The Sebra Bed can be extended without additional parts as your child grows and needs a longer bed. In the video assembly guide, you can watch how to transform your Sebra Bed from a baby bed to a junior bed.
Note: The original Sebra mattress, designed for the Sebra Bed, is two-part, allowing you to simply extend the bed and place the extension piece at the foot of the bed.
Which baby bumpers fit the Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr.?
For the Sebra Bed, baby & Jr., baby bumpers measuring 360 cm in length and 26 cm in height are a perfect fit, wrapping around the entire edge of the bed. However, if you only wish to cover the headboard area or one side of the bed, the 180 cm baby bumper is a versatile option.
Baby bumpers are used with the Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr., when the base plate is in the highest position. For safety reasons, baby bumpers should not be used when the base is in the lowest position, and both side rails are still mounted. This is because your child could use the bumper to climb out of the bed.
Can I use my Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr., as a bedside crib?
The Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr., is designed, manufactured, and safety-approved as a crib that can be used from newborn to junior.
A bedside crib has a different construction than a crib. For example, it typically has only one long side, must be attachable to the parents' bed, and should be adjustable in height to match the parents' bed. Therefore, the safety requirements for a bedside crib differ from those for a regular crib.
Find the Sebra Bedside Crib here.
When should you switch to a junior bed?
The timing for transitioning to a junior bed varies. Sometimes, it happens when a younger sibling arrives, while others base it on how tall their child has grown.
The Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr., can be extended to 157.75 cm (external dimensions). When this length is insufficient for your child, it’s time to switch to the Sebra Bed, Junior & Grow, which is 165 cm long and can be extended to 203.4 cm (external dimensions). This gives you a bed that can be used well into the teenage years.
If your child moves around a lot during sleep, you can attach a bed rail to both the Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr., and the Sebra Bed, Junior & Grow.
Questions regarding products
What is a bedwetting sheet, and what is it used for?
A bedwetting sheet helps extend the life of the mattress and makes accidents easier to handle. Place the sheet on top of your child's mattress to protect it. An elastic edge keeps the sheet in place, ensuring it stays securely on the mattress.
The breathable bedwetting sheet consists of a soft jersey front and a waterproof polyurethane membrane on the back. The soft jersey surface means you don’t need to use a regular sheet on top of the bedwetting sheet.
What is a mattress pad used for?
The Sebra mattress pad is an optimal mattress protector placed between the mattress and the sheet to prevent wear and tear on the mattress.
How do I assemble my Sebra Changing Unit?
