Decorating the Children's Room

Do you dream of a cozy children's room with space for both sleep, comfort, and
play? We have gathered a range of inspiring ideas for decorating the children's
room.

Colors set the mood

The bed is often the center of the children's room decor and a golden opportunity to create a personal and cozy atmosphere.

By choosing a colored bed, you immediately add a lot of ambiance and have a color scheme to design the rest of the room around.

If you dream of a relaxing oasis, opt for a bed in calming natural colors such as wood, beige, gray, and mist green. You can adjust the ambiance with wall colors and accessories.

Ultra-soft dreams

Create a safe and soothing sleeping environment with soft textiles that create a cozy atmosphere.

When placing the bed, it's a good idea to consider the location of heaters and windows in the room. Avoid having the bed right next to a radiator.

A bed canopy can shield from any distractions, and ultra-soft bedding with imaginative motifs is perfect for telling bedtime stories during cuddle time.

Ideal storage solutions

Safety in the children's room

When starting with the children's room decoration, it's a good idea to prioritize the child's safety from the beginning.

Make sure to cover sharp corners, electrical outlets, and wires to avoid any hazards. Secure heavy furniture to prevent tipping, and if there are curtains with cords, place them out of the child's reach.

Also, consider choosing furniture painted with non-toxic paint and toys that do not contain dangerous chemicals. Different recognized certifications and labels can help you make a good choice.

How to decorate a good children's room

A children's room must serve many purposes and provide the framework for life at the child's level from infancy to adulthood. That means you cannot create the perfect children's room that fits the child from 0 to 18 years old; instead, you need to adapt it as the child grows.

For a child in the age group 0-3 years, a good children's room consists of a comfortable and safe bed, ample storage, and a cozy play area with space to explore.

How to make a children's room cozy
There are many ways to make a children's room cozy. Colors are great for setting the mood, whether you choose to paint a wall or buy colored furniture and rugs. Posters on the walls, play mats on the floor, and a canopy over the bed are all excellent elements to create a cozy children's room.

What should be in a children's room?

The essential items you should have in a children's room are a bed, toy storage, and space for play. If the children's room is also used for changing the baby, you will need a good changing table where everything for diaper changing is easily accessible.

How big should a good children's room be?
There are no strict rules for how big a good children's room should be. Previously, children's rooms were often under 10 square meters, but in newly built houses, it's not uncommon to have children's rooms of 15-20 square meters. However, the size does not determine whether it's a good children's room or not.

A good indoor climate with proper ventilation and natural light are important factors. Adequate storage solutions that make it easy to keep things organized are also crucial. A cluttered children's room is challenging to keep clean, and the coziness can quickly disappear in the chaos. Regardless of the room's size, the child needs a bed, storage, and space for play.
