Responsibility at Sebra

At Sebra, we design with care – for the joy of children and for the world they will grow up in. We work with durable materials, timeless design and carefully selected suppliers to create products made under responsible conditions. We place high demands on our suppliers and partners, and we consciously choose solutions that support more responsible consumption.

Responsibility is an integrated part of everything we do. Our goal is to create products that can be used, loved and passed on – without compromising on quality or safety.

Materials

Materials are at the heart of every Sebra product. We select them with intention to ensure high quality and functionality – and to create products that will last for many years.

Our assortment is made from materials that are all carefully chosen. Wood from responsibly managed forests, soft organic cotton, natural kapok, recycled polyester and other materials are selected to give our products the right combination of durability, quality and beautiful design.

Whenever possible, we use certified materials that document origin and meet requirements within areas such as quality, the environment, health and working conditions. This gives you confidence in the products your child is surrounded by.

Wood

At Sebra, we primarily use wood for our toys and furniture because it is a natural, durable and timeless material that can withstand everyday use.

We continually work to increase the share of certified wood and avoid non-certified wood whenever possible. This ensures that our wood comes from responsibly managed forests, where both nature and the people working there are taken into account.

Cotton

Most of our textiles are made from organic cotton. Cotton is a soft and durable natural material that we use for bedding, muslin cloths, canopies, jersey sheets and comfort blankets.

When possible, we choose certified cotton to document origin, organic quality and working conditions. This ensures that the material meets high quality standards for organic textile production.

Kapok

Kapok is a natural fibre that is light, soft and temperature-regulating. The fibres are harvested from kapok trees that grow in rainforests and tropical regions. The trees are not cut down during harvesting and can therefore remain part of the forest ecosystem for many years.

Kapok is also naturally resistant to dust mites, making it especially suitable for products for children.

We use kapok in our baby nests, baby bumpers and nursing pillows, where the fibre’s unique properties provide comfort, support and a healthy environment for the child.

Natural Rubber

Natural rubber is a soft and flexible material that we use for items such as bath toys and teethers.

It is extracted from the sap of rubber trees, mainly grown in South America. The sap is tapped while the trees continue to grow, allowing plantations to thrive for many years without felling.

PUR Foam

PUR foam is used in our moulded changing mats. It has many valuable qualities: it is insulating, flexible, water-repellent and durable.

This makes it highly suitable for our changing mat, which is designed to be used every day and stay beautiful for years. The material can sustain both water and soap and can be disinfected with up to 70% alcohol.

Recycled Polyester

Polyester is used in parts of our soft toys. When we use polyester, we aim to choose a recycled version, made from existing plastic materials. This helps avoid producing new plastic and makes better use of resources.

At Sebra, we are focused on natural materials, and our goal is to gradually reduce the use of polyester and replace it with natural alternatives.
