Product description

The Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr., is a Danish design icon, tested across generations since architect Viggo Einfeldt drew the first lines over 80 years ago.

This classic design grows with your child thanks to the adjustable base and extendable function, making the crib suitable for newborns through to junior years.

The bed is made from certified wood and carries the EU Ecolabel, among other certifications. The height-adjustable base can be set at the highest position for newborns, providing a comfortable height for placing or lifting your baby from the crib.

Before your child shows signs of rolling over or sitting up, the height-adjustable base should be lowered to the bottom position. The lowered base and iconic slatted sides ensure a safe sleeping environment for your child during the first years.

You can remove the slatted sides when your child is old enough to climb in and out of bed independently. The bed can then be extended to 157.75 cm (external dimensions), making it suitable until around 6-7 years of age.

No additional parts are required to extend the bed. If you've chosen the original Sebra Mattress, it includes an extension piece that can be used when the bed is fully extended, making the transition seamless and stress-free.

This makes the Sebra Bed a durable solution, able to be passed down through generations or resold, helping to conserve valuable resources and avoid the need for a new investment.

The Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr., is designed for a maximum weight of 15 kg in the highest mattress base position and 80 kg in the lowest. The bed weighs 34 kg, including packaging.

The Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr., is designed in Denmark for indoor use and produced in Europe.

Note: The mattress must be purchased separately.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Sebra Bed

How long can my child use the Sebra Bed?

The iconic Sebra Bed, Baby & Jr. can be used from birth until approximately 6–7 years of age.

The bed can be extended as your child grows, so there is no need to buy a new bed after the first few years. However, every child develops differently, and the right time to move to a larger bed varies from child to child.

The bed measures 115.25 cm in length and can be extended to 157.75 cm (external dimensions). See all measurements here.

Is the Sebra Bed worth the investment?

The Sebra Bed is designed to grow with your child for many years. It can be used from birth until approximately 6–7 years of age, and the bed extends without the need for separate junior extension kits.

Many parents therefore choose the Sebra Bed as a long-term solution rather than investing in multiple beds as their child grows.

The Sebra Bed is also a Danish design icon that has been part of family homes since the 1940s. It is made from certified wood, handcrafted in Europe, and comes with a 5-year warranty.

What makes the Sebra Bed different from other cots?

The Sebra Bed is a Danish design icon with roots dating back to 1942.

It is made from certified wood, handcrafted in Europe, and carries the EU Ecolabel.

The EU Ecolabel sets strict requirements for materials, chemicals, and production throughout the product's entire life cycle. This makes the Sebra Bed a more responsible choice than many cots without equivalent certification.

The bed can also be extended as your child grows, without the need for separate junior extension kits.

In addition, we offer a 5-year warranty and the option to purchase spare parts if needed.

Read more about our certifications.

Will I need to buy a new bed as my child grows?

No. The Sebra Bed can be extended as your child grows and can generally be used from birth until approximately 6–7 years of age.

Once the bed is no longer the right fit for your child, many families choose to pass it on to siblings or sell it.

Is the Sebra Bed safe for a newborn?

Yes. The Sebra Bed is designed for use from birth and has been tested in accordance with EN 716-1:2017+AC:2019, the European safety standard for children's cots.

Can the Sebra Bed be used for more than one child?

Yes. The Sebra Bed is made from durable materials and designed to last for many years.

Many families use the bed for several siblings, pass it down through the family, or sell it on when it is no longer needed.

Can I get spare parts for my Sebra Bed if something breaks?

Yes. We offer spare parts for EU Ecolabel-certified Sebra Beds, helping to ensure that the bed can be used for many years.

If your bed is labelled, you can find the relevant spare parts here.

Which mattress fits the Sebra Bed?

The original Sebra mattresses are designed specifically for the Sebra Bed and fit its unique shape perfectly.

The mattresses include an extension piece that is added when the bed is extended, ensuring the mattress continues to meet your child's needs.

When should I lower the bed base in the Sebra Bed?

Lower the bed base when your child starts rolling over, sitting up, or becoming more active in bed.

The timing varies from child to child, but your child's safety should always determine when the bed base is moved to the lower position.

When should I remove the cot side from the Sebra Bed?

You should remove one or both cot sides before your child can climb out of the bed independently.

Many children first show signs by pulling themselves up, climbing, or attempting to get over the side. When this happens, it is time to consider adapting the bed to the next stage of your child's development.
